Panic Disorder

Panic Disorder This disorder is marked by the presence of repeated panic attacks: sudden feelings of terror that appear with physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat, sweating, palpitations, shortness of breath as if suffocating, dizzy or light-headedness, numbness or tingling in the extremities, nausea, and visual distortions. 4. Man I have anxiety and panic attacks almost on a daily basis. Yes I get the tingly limb sensation, but i also get physical pain and shortness of breathe, a sensation that my neck swells up so i can’t get air, racing heart — you know the works. I get this literally every day without fail for the last 10 months.

i’ve tried to control it but I think i have it so bad that it’s uncontrollable without medication.

Doctors pretty much think i’m crazy. Family does too. it’s like im on an island.

  5. count me in ;)
    I’m 19 and i have a panic disorder for almost 2 years.
I never used medication but i visited a psychologist, It really helped me. After 10 visits i never returned. I still get a panic attack but i can rationalize it, its just a panic attack, i’m not gonna die or gonna go insane (think about how much you have gone through this and survived).
Peace and To all the panic people: do not have fear its just a (relatively harmless) mental problem.

There is no proof what so ever that panic attacks are caused by a lack of any brain chemical. You need to read about withdrawal from these meds.

  10. Take beta blockers (high blood meds) to control the heart racing… then desensitize yourself by searching for what gives you anxiety and turn that andrenaline into fight not flight. Cut down on sugar…. the body pumps out adrenaline to counteract insulin then people become either depressed or aggressive.

i have not worked for seven years now because of this problem. it sucks to have lost my life! :-(

  12. I agree, no medication has ever helped me with my panic attacks. I’ve taken medication that would depress my nervous system and numb me, but it’s not curing me it’s just dulling my senses so I don’t feel the sensations as strongly.

Many of these meds, in addition to not curing you are simply unhealthy too. Prozac contains FLUORIDE.

  13. i had panic attacks it started in 04 and whole 05, it started because a stressful situation i dealt with related to drugs, anyways i had all those symptoms tingling sensation (even my hands tighten one time) it was horrible, lack of breathing, feeling like i was going to dye etc etc the only thing that cured me is relaxing massages they take the stress away the cause of anxiety problem and panic attacks TRY IT!!!

  14. at least you had one, I´m 23 and stay at home all day, not the typical happy life.

  15. I used to have a really bad panic/anxiety disorder and it really knocked me on my ass. I seriously thought I was going to die every night I went to bed (and didn’t sleep.) A few things that have really helped are SSRIs, benzodiazapems (not for too long though), and The Linden Method. I’ve been anti-drug, anti-drug company, and a naturalist my whole life… Its humbling to have the stuff I talked shit about save my life.

Yeah, I do. Does your heart race and shit? Mine usually gets up to 160 BPM when I have a panic attack.

  20. You need to see a therapist who’s experienced at helping people who suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. If you have to, find one in the phone book. Get profressional help. Insist your doctor recommend someone. bill

  21. yeah I went to the ER and mine was 168 and they ran all kind EKG and other shit they treated me like i was having a heart attak or some shit and everithing came out negative>

  22. Had horrible panic attacks and ongoing anxiety starting at 15, in 1976. The doctor ended up telling my parents to ignore me, that I just wanted attention. The psychiatrist I saw started laughing as I was trying to tell him what was happening to me.

  23. I am so sorry.

I understand what you went through, however…

I have the worst anxiety attacks starting in March this year. I’m only 14…

My psychiatrist told me that I was just a typical teenager and that I was just trying to get attention…

But I know that something is wrong. I didn’t even want to tell anyone, so how can my anxiety, which physically hurts me, be because I want attention???

Ugh… I don’t know what to do. I guess I should just stick it out. But it’s scary and it hurts.

  24. I’ve lost 30 pounds in three weeks because of anxiety. That was a month ago. I’m down another five pounds. I’m scared all the time. I get panic attacks all the time.

One second I’m a happy teenager and the next I’m tugging my hair trying not to scream and cry. And weirder even is that things that SHOULD set off anxiety attacks, sometimes don’t. So It’s very confusing.

    Argh….

  25. Does anybody have trouble laughing with this disorder? I feel like im going to keel over if I laugh too hard. It’s stupid as fuck- considering I used to laugh alot…:C
