Does lexapro actually work for panic attacks?

I have just started to have really bad panic attacks and my doctor put me on lexapro. I have not taken it yet but I just want to ask if anyone knows if this drug really works for panic attacks or not?

  1. All anti depressants affect everyone in a different way. I myself take lexapro for social anxiety. I describe it as "mild", I’ve had several types of anti depressants and lexapro is the right one for me. It doesn’t take away all your anxiety, it doesn’t numb your emotions either, but for me it makes me feel like I’m right. I have a problem with blushing at every turn of the corner, and I would jump like I was scared if I DID turn the corner and someone was there lol. That went away. It helps me cope with the anxiety I have but does not take it all away. Give it about a month to a month and a half, it could really help you.
