Another way to manage panic attacks?
my psychiatrist gives me medication but it doesn`t prevent my panic attacks I take anti depressants and mood stabilizers because i`m bipolar and i`m depressed alot but when panic attacks hit me I feel like i`m having a heart attack my chest hurts and I hyperventilate and I feel like my lungs are closing and I don`t have enough oxygen so I wanted to ask what is a way to manage or prevent panic attacks?

Bipolar treatment is relatively new and the medication is supposedly your best approach for now. You might want to see if there are some spiritual issues at the root if you are religious. Also, you should try to keep track of when these attacks occur (e.g. at a specific time in the middle of the night?) and under what conditions (any specific triggers?) Keep a detailed log for your psychiatrist to help them make a more accurate solution. It would be nice to not be dependent on medication. There are some excellent yoga exercises that can help counter the feelings/effects of hyperventilation…you don't have to be a mystic to practice yoga….it can actually be very practical and healthy.
